Childhood Vaccinations in Coogee — Protecting Your Child From the Start
Vaccination is one of the safest and most effective ways to protect your child from serious, potentially life-threatening diseases. At Coogee Beach Doctors, we provide all childhood immunisations in line with Australia's National Immunisation Program (NIP) Schedule, in a warm and family-friendly environment.
Why Vaccination Matters
The NIP Schedule provides free vaccines for eligible children from birth through to adolescence, protecting against diseases including whooping cough, measles, meningococcal disease, chickenpox, HPV, and more. Vaccines are rigorously tested for safety and effectiveness and are continuously monitored by the Australian Government.
The National Immunisation Program Schedule
Vaccinations are recommended at key ages, starting at birth and continuing through childhood and into the teenage years. Key vaccination points include:
- Birth — Hepatitis B
- 6–8 weeks — DTPa, Hib, Hepatitis B, polio, pneumococcal, rotavirus
- 4 months — DTPa, Hib, Hepatitis B, polio, pneumococcal, rotavirus
- 6 months — DTPa, Hib, Hepatitis B, polio, pneumococcal
- 12 months — Meningococcal ACWY, pneumococcal, MMR
- 18 months — DTPa, MMR, varicella, Hib
- 4 years — DTPa, MMR, polio
- Adolescence — HPV, meningococcal ACWY booster, dTpa booster
From September 2025, Prevenar 20 replaced Prevenar 13 for children under 5 years, providing broader pneumococcal protection.
As well as the National Immunisation Program, there are several other vaccinations that are recommended beyond the program. These include meningococcal B or Bexsero. These vaccinations are generally stocked and available at Coogee Beach Doctors. You should discuss with your GP what is right for your child.
Catch-Up Vaccinations
If your child has missed any vaccinations, catch-up vaccines are available free of charge up to age 20 (and up to age 25 for HPV). Our GPs can review your child's immunisation history and ensure they are fully protected.
